Question thyme.
karpiel asked you: You’ve probably answered this question sometime before, but I’m willing to test your patience. How often do you complete an illustration traditionally on paper without the use of any digital manipulation? Also, I would buy your books but I have no money.
It’s usually brush/pen lines paper and color in Photoshop (rarely gouache/watercolor/washes). I draw pretty fast, but then waste hours and hours on coloring. Thanks. I hope you get money.
elitrope asked you: I love your style and I’ve been wondering if you have published a book or something, I’d love to have a look to your drawings in real life :)
Not yet, but stay tuned, should be something soon (I hope).
Anonymous asked you: How tall are you?
Eighth on the insigh.
cage-of-art asked you: Hey, I just saw on your latest post (the interview post) that you are an “amateur” illustrator. Does this mean you didn’t study illustration at school? Or that you just illustrate 4 fun, without getting paid. thanks if you reply :) ^^
Um no, that must’ve been in a question. I get paid for stuff I do for magazines of course, though editorial illustration is usually not too generous to put it mildly. There’s no “fun” 4 people like me, it’s all pain & suffering.
christopherwoodward asked you: Hey there. Really nice style. It’s funny that you mention Seth being an influence, because he actually lives in my town. I have a serious illustration question (being a fairly-serious cartoonist): Some of your drawings have what looks like chalk outlines. How do you get that “chalk” effect in photoshop? It looks really natural and interesting. Take care!
By “chalk” I assume you mean “dry brush,” it’s done with a brush that is dry. Seth is the best, you should go to the barbershop he designed.
