Anonymous asked you: Hello Roman! I hope you’re doing well. May I ask you what made you go into commercial illustration specifically, as opposed to any other type of arting?

Don’t know to be honest. I’ve been trying to figure out how to make a living for a good while, and though in 2012 I did hundredtimes more editorial work than ever in my life, it’s still pretty hard even with my most minimal spendings. I’m guessing it might pick up more in the next year and I’m hoping to get into book illustration too. I tried lots of occupations & jobs in my life from petroleum engineering to journalism, so now I have a little note by my wall that says “at least you’re not sanding.” It’s a sad bit of motivation, but there you have it.

pulgass asked you: do you have a comic about your life? and if no, would you like?

I had a rather embarrassing 24-hour comic last year, which was the closest thing to hearing me talk in real life, plus occasional autobio strips, but nothing extensive. Though the abovementioned 24-hour comic sold better than anything I’ve spent months on, I don’t really want to go down that cheap relatable slope again (however I might do something pseudo/semi-autobiographical like Seth’s “It’s A Good Life If You Don’t Weaken”).
